Fans hoping Miles Morales’ Spider-Man will jump into live action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have to wait a little longer.
In a recent sit-in with journalists, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, confirmed that the studio is being asked to refrain from characters, at least until Sony finishes the animated Spider Burst Relogy.
Marvel is said to “leave away”
Asked about the status of the live-action Miles Morales, Feige said “it’s nowhere,” he said (cited by a Hollywood reporter) referring to Marvel’s current development plans.
Feige explained that the delay comes from Sony, and that Sony retains the rights to the Sphider-Man space film and was a huge success with the animated Spider-Verse Franchise. “Sony has their amazing, genius, incredible Spiderverse animation franchise going on, and we were told to leave until it was over,” Feige said.
The US release date for the third entry in the animation series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, was recently pushed on June 25th, 2027. Follow the multiversal cliff hanger and pick it up from where it fell across the Spider Vess.

Diversity is still a priority, says Faige
Feige also reaffirmed Marvel’s commitment to diversity and authentic representation.
“Marvel represents the world outside your window. I always say that and did we end up after Day and woke up, before Day and woke up? I don’t think so.”
He pointed out Iman Verani (Mrs. Marvel and the Marvel star). “It’s one of the biggest castings I’ve ever done,” Feige said. “I can’t wait to see her somewhere.”
Waiting for a live action spider hero for a long time
With Beyond The Spider-Verse set for 2027, plans to bring miles to the MCU appear to be firmly pending until then. Of course, further delays to Sony’s animation trilogy could push that timeline even further.
And if the franchise continues to succeed, Sony will always be able to hold a firm grip on the future of the characters, potentially extending his own Miles Morales storytelling before handing over the reins.
