Netflix has dropped the official Night Always trailer. This is a rough one-night thriller where Vanessa Kirby (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) regained control of her life and shoved onto the brink with a desperate bid to fight for her family. Please read the trailer above and read more about it.
City, night, chance to get it all back
Unfolding during a single pressure cooked night, the film follows Lynette (Kirby). Lynette (Kirby) wobbles the edge as she navigates a city that feels as fractured and unforgiving as she does in her own situation. With time running out and her family’s future falling on line, Lynette sometimes takes matters into her own hands, sometimes recklessly, in the fight to secure a home that symbolizes security that she has long been denied.
“Lynette is driven by a desperate need for security, and this is just as much for the idea of the house as it is the reality,” director Benjamin Carron tells Netflix’s site Tudum. “But she is plagued by the fear that she doesn’t deserve it. Her journey is a study of promotion. No matter how reckless she is, each decision is an attempt to overtake her past and carve out the future.”
Based on Willie Vlautin’s novel The Night Always Come Always adapted to Sarah Conradt (the mother’s instinct), the film thrusts viewers into a psychological and emotional pursuit within the nightscape of Portland, Oregon. “The contrast between the city’s foreclosed buildings and the calm areas reflects Lynette’s personal crisis,” explains Caron.
Kirby in the heart of everything
Kirby, who also serves as a producer, will be reunited with Caron following his previous collaboration in the Crown (he directed 11 episodes of the Netflix series). According to Caron, Kirby’s creative involvement helped shape Lynette into unstable and electrical.
“Vanessa brings beautiful, wild energy to Lynette, making the character an unpredictable, deep, and deep human,” he says. “Together we worked on creating a character who wasn’t merely responsive to the world, but was shaking at the edge of self-destruction, but desperately trying to take control of her future.”
Participants in Kirby are Jennifer Jason Lee, Zack Gott Sagen, Stephen James, Julia Fox, Ellilos, Randall Park and Michael Kelly.
