Pixar has released the official teaser trailer for the Hoppers, an animated sci-fi comedy about young women who feel literally hopping themselves into the animal world. Look up.
The film follows Mabel (voiced by Piper Curda), an avid animal lover who takes part in a scientific experiment that allows her to transfer her consciousness to a robotic animal. With new technology, Mabel becomes a beaver and quickly realizes that communication with animals can lead to more confusion than expected. Queue fast-paced action, creature talk, and competition to save threatened habitat.
The film was directed by Daniel Chong, known for Animated Series We Bare Bears, and was previously a story artist for Cars 2 storyboard artist Pixar’s Inside Out.
“At Hoppers, the question we are answering is, “What if we could understand and communicate the animal world?” Chung said in a statement. “Our main character, Mabel, comes to discover the kingdom of animals as animals, as animals. This can be strange and often hilarious. In the animal world, Mabel gets on the wild roller coaster of the film and has a heart to look forward to in classic Pixar movies. It’s going to be so much fun to watch in theatre.”
The Hoppers will feature a cast including Bobby Moynihan and John Hamm (voiced the town’s mayor) and will open at Australian Cinemas on March 5th and at US Cinemas on March 6th, 2026.
