Start the engine. The official trailer for Twisted Metal Season 2 has arrived. Finally, it delivers a massacre of vehicles at the heart of the Classic PlayStation franchise. After using Season 1 to build an apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic world, one of Mad Max, part of the buddy comedy – the show appears to be moving towards the explosive demolition that Derby fans have been waiting for.
The quiet of Anthony Mackie’s John Daw and Stephanie Beatrice is no longer just a road across the wasteland. They are contestants in a brutal tournament directed by an inexplicable person named Calypso (Anthony Carrigan), offering one wish to the last driver. Quiet plan is a wish used to defeat the literal, philosophical walls that divide this dystopian society.
Familiar faces, fan favorites, twisted stakes
Sweet Tooth (still voiced by Will Arnett and physically played by Joe Seanoa) is back with his fiery clown head and a signature brand of overjoyed violence. It is the new combatants who will join Chaos, and it is John’s long-lost sister who revives Michael James Shaw as the two-wheeled warrior Axel and Tiana Okoye as Dollface, who has her own deadly agenda.
The trailer doesn’t waste much of the over-the-top action, twisted humor and strange charm that will help make Season 1 a surprising success. There is also a hint that the fulfillment of Calypso’s reality-bending wishes is helpless in the game that transforms people’s desires into dark, sarcasmous outcomes.
