Next week’s Future Vision Summit announced nearly 20 new additions to invited-only industry sessions, including filmmaker Rachel Perkins and ABC Chair Kim Williams.

Perkins and Williams will appear in a session in Creative Leadership: Tuesday, July 15th, exploring key questions about resilience, market understanding, the evolution of Australia’s storytelling legacy, and how to inspire new leaders. Emile Sherman, co-founder of See-Saw Films, eases the discussion.

The next day, artist and filmmaker Lynette Wallworth, filmmaker Amiel Courtlyn Wilson, previously announced Sally Wainwright and moderator Mary Kustus are set to delve into the emotional and artistic bravery needed to break new ground with screen storytelling as part of Stay Bold: The Courvee To Creasing.

Director David Mycord and producer Liz Watts will join Usher Keddy, Imogen Bank and Bruna Papandria for a fireplace chat on the July 14th open access day.

Also contributed by creators Belinda Chaiko, Elise McCready, Jacqueline Perke, Misilla Gupta, Marieke Hardy, Peter Mattesi, Warren Clark, and producers Amanda Higgs, Helen Bowden, Joe Werner, Jude Troy, Rosemery Now White and Hibin Kavin Kelly Kelly Kelly.

Announced by Australians In Film (AIF), in collaboration with Partners Screen Australia and Vicscreen, the second-year edition features a theme of “optimism.”

AIF Executive Director Peter Richie said whether feedback from last year’s first event informed this year’s approach.

“Last year was our first year, so we really wanted to open up and get into it and get involved with it and really get involved with the sector and what’s going on here,” he said.

“There was so much repetition in terms of subjects and speakers, so this year we created a very different structure that was very exciting.”

He said the ever-growing role of relationships and collaboration in the current climate meant it made sense to start with this open access day.

“We felt it was appropriate for everyone to come together on the first day and discuss what was being pushed on from a creative perspective.

“The vision for the future is the way we think about the creative development of our stories.

Co-chairs Tony Ayers and Bruna Pappandrea said this year’s event will bring together “some of the most exciting and thought-welcoming thinkers and creative artists currently working in the world and in Australia.”

“We are honored to be able to inspire new creative and business practices and promote storytelling techniques so that Australian stories can be enjoyed all over the world,” they said.

The Vision for the Future will be held at ACMI in Melbourne from July 14-16, with support from Walt Disney Company Australia & New Zealand, Netflix and Stan. Tickets are available on open days here.
