Fatal Games for Primetime Evaluation
The teaser lays out the brutal rules of the show. Survive the moon, the prize money climbs day by day, and all movements are broadcast to the bloodthirsty masses. Josh Brolin’s sophisticated producer Dan Killian ensures viewers that the spectacle is “all fun,” while Colman Domingo’s showman host stokes the crowd’s bloodlast. But as Ben’s quick thinking and charisma transform him into an unlikely fan favorite, the network recognizes that it created a Goldmine rating. Lee Pace, Katy O’Brian and others sw as odd “hunters” in aired mayhem of their own brand.
Wright’s spin on King’s Reality TV prophecies
Wright, who frequently co-authored with collaborator Michael Bacall, emphasizes that his films are closer to King’s strict source material than the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-led adaptation. “There are stories that have never been told, and that’s what excited me,” Wright told the press on Cinemacon. He also praised Powell, one of the busiest first-class men from 2024-25. Meanwhile, Powell admits that “I’ve never worked hard on a film in my life,” calling the project “an insanely ambitious story, a massive scope.”
Cast built for Mayhem
Alongside Powell, Brolin and Domingo, the ensemble includes Michael Cera (as Ben, the Rebel Assistant), William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, Daniel Ezra and Jame Lawson. Wright will be produced at Simon Kinberg and Nira Park. Also behind the camera with director of cinema, Jeong-Hun Chung (who worked in SoHo last night for Wright and lensed Park Chan Wook films such as Old Boy and Handmaiden).
Release date
Running Man will open in Australian cinemas on November 6th and in the US on November 7th.
