Tasma Walton and Hunter Page-Lochard force a brother forced to cooperate to escape the accidental hit-and-run death in NITV and SBS comics stirrer Reckless.
Production has begun on Fremantle’s four-part BBC Studios Productions Australia series, with Kodie Bedford piloting the creative team as executive producer and writer.
Reckless is an adaptation of the guilt of the Scottish mystery thriller television series written by Neil Forsyth, which premiered in both BBC Two and BBC Scotland in 2019.
The cast includes Jessica De Gu, Clarence Ryan, Jane Harbor, Tracey Mann, Duncan Fellow, Perry Mooney, Kelton Bell, Matthew Diktinsky, Paul Tusson, Peter Lowthorne, Steve Le Marcando and newcomer Maddie Young.
Bedford wrote the script on the Stuart Page. Beck Cole is produced and directed by Andy Walker.
Kylie Washington of BBC Studios is co-producer and executive producer with Fiona McConaghy, along with co-producers Megan Palinkas and Cole.
“From day one, I wanted to create a bold show with bold characters who felt they didn’t feel Western Australia’s attitude. I’m so happy to be able to share this thread with a team of creatives that are even wilder than I imagined,” Bedford said.
“NITV and SBS are excited to present a reckless, dark and funny thriller, a tense, dark and funny thriller packed with sharp twists and unforgettable characters,” said NITV Head of Indigenous’s Commissioning and Production Denakartis, and SBS Head of Screenwriter Nakurulega in a joint statement.
“We are extremely proud that writer and executive producer Kody Bedford is heading her first series back to Australia and the SBS network. The incredible cast, creative team and incredible support of partners at BBC Studios, Screen Australia and Screen West are testament to the ambitions of this series.
This is the second BBC Studio Production Australia project to shoot in Washington in the last few months, and the company recently wrapped Ghost Australia for Paramount.
Keyeagh’s crew includes production manager Vickibur, first assistant director John Fairhead, production designer Emma Fletcher, art director Susie Oppy, costume supervisor Sarah Jameson and hair and makeup supervisor Karen Sims.
“We are delighted to be living a reckless life with such a great team of creatives and talent. The series is the perfect example of the BBC studio’s ambition to create and share the world’s most compelling stories,” Washington said.
Reckless is financially supported by Screen Australia’s First Nations Department, SBS, ScreenWest, and Western Australian Production Attractions Incentives. .
