One of the strangest stories I’ve ever written, the 2020 game AFL Evolution 2 has been re-released as Oussie Rules Evolution 2 without a licensed team. It is listed here in EB Games.
The game was originally created by Wicked Witch and published by Trublu Entertainment, with Big Ant and Nacon Studios re-earning the rights to AFL Games, releasing AFL 23 and AFL 26.
We’re still considering, but Aussie Rules Evolution 2 is listed only for release on Nintendo Switch 2 and appears to be a very similar game to the game released in 2020.
The product list reads: “Australian Rule Evolution 2. There’s no license team just for pure fun and great gameplay! It’s packed with the thrills and leaks of Australian Rule Games.”
As for why the game is being switched, I speculate that this may be because AFL 23 and AFL 26 have not been released on the Nintendo Switch yet. This means that publishers can re-releasing this game (without AFL branding) to the Switch, but again, they are considering this.
