The official trailer arrived for St. Clair, an upcoming mystery thriller led by Bella Thorne, and began a US release in July. Please see the above for more details.
The film, adapted by Don Loff’s novel Claire in 16, stars Thorn Thorn as Claire Bleeker, a quiet Catholic university student in a small town whose voice is plagued by its voice. The ominous vision directs her towards murder and targets people with dark intentions. However, when she kills, Claire’s actions draw her into a deeper web of corruption, human trafficking and supernatural vision that threatens to consume her entirely.
The film is directed by Mitzi Peirone (Braid). MitziPeirone co-writes the film alongside American Psycho co-writer Guinevere Turner. The cast includes Rebecca de Moonay, Frank Whaley, Ryan Phillip, Burt Johnson, Joel Michaely, Joy Robalis, Jan Luis Castellanos, Dylan Flashner and Erica Dasher. Thorne also serves as the executive producer of the film.
Peirone described the film as a deep, personal, creative journey. “I think making St. Clair taught me the same lessons that nominal characters are forced to master on her own journey to their own destiny,” the film director said in a statement.
“To me, artists and people of faith are pretty similar. Both efforts require merciless vision, unwavering belief, and sacrifice. So, like Joan’s Ark General of the General of the Vision, Claire cannot scare you when you are destined for clarity of sight and purpose.
The film premiered at the 2024 Taormina Film Festival and then screened at Frightfest, Oldenburg International Film Festival and SXSW Sydney. He has earned Best Narrative Features and Best Director for the LA Independent Women Film Awards.
Saint Clare will be released at Select US Theatre and will be released on demand from July 18th via Quiver Distribution.
