Netflix’s Quentin Tarantino’s highly unexpected sequel to the former Hollywood era has been moving forward, and the cast continues to grow.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Ambulance) is the latest addition to Cliff Booth’s adventures, who will be taking part in Returning Star Brad Pitt, reintroducing his Oscar-winning role as Stuntman Cliff Booth. The film will be directed by a non-David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network), along with a script written by Tarantino himself.
The plot details remain under the rap, but the film is expected to catch up to Cliff Booth when filming a new chapter as a Hollywood fixer. As Deadline first reported, the character of Abdul-Mateen II is in Jim Brown’s pulse. This is a soccer star who left the NFL to make a successful acting career in films such as Dirty Dozen. Netflix has not checked the news yet.
Abdul-Maten II joins the cast, including Elizabeth Debicki (Crown, Tenet) and Scott Kahn (Hawaii 5-0). Everything is coming together, so hopefully more big names will be announced.
The film moves forward as a result of an unlikely but interesting convergence of creative power. Pitt reportedly secured Tarantino’s blessing and shared the script with Fincher, leading to Netflix fundraising and project distribution. Fincher, who has an exclusive agreement with Netflix and previously worked with Cards and Love, Death & Robots’ House of Love, will continue that partnership here.
Abdul-Mateen II added this project to his resume and boasts many well-known titles. He is leading the upcoming Marvel series Wonder Man for Disney+, starring in the Netflix’s Man on Fire series, and has previously appeared in characters from Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7, Michael’s Ambulances, The Matrix Resurrections, The Matrix Resurrections, Candyman, Hbo’s Watchmen (he won Emmy), and Aquaman Films as dc Comics Comics.
Netflix has not announced a release date yet. For now, the adventures of the Cliff Booth continue to be one of the more surprising and fascinating expansions of Tarantino’s film world. As for Tarantino’s 10th final film, it is still in development.
