He jumped out of a skyscraper, clinging to a plane, and hugging the water longer than Olympic swimmers, but now Tom Cruise has added an “official world record holder” to his list of amazing achievements.

The Action Star has officially won the Guinness World Record for stunts made in Mission: Impossible – Final calculations. record? Most burning parachutes are individual jumps. Please see below.

As confirmed by Guinness, Cruz completed 16 parachute jumps while his shot was literally burning. Each jump includes a pre-immersed fuel-covered parachute illuminated into the air. Once swallowed, Cruise had to quickly remove the burning chute and deploy a backup to land safely. It is considered to be the first stunt of this kind attempt by the actor.

“Tom doesn’t just play an action hero. He’s an action hero!” said Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of the Guinness World Records. “Most of his success can be chalked with absolute focus on pushing the boundaries between authenticity and what a top-class person can do. It’s an honor to recognize his total fearlessness in this new Guinness World Record title.”

The record-breaking scene was filmed in the Drakensberg region of South Africa, where Cruise and Mission: Impossible team spent weeks preparing for the elaborate sequence. Each jump was fired from a helicopter at an altitude of at least 7,500 feet, giving the fiery parachute just 2.5-3 seconds before it burned out completely. In other words, the cruise only had moments of reaction.

Even more impressive, some of the jumps were completed with camera rigs attached to a 50-pound Snorricam body tied to Cruise’s body, allowing for closed footage of the fiery descent.

Cruise’s creepy qualifications have long been part of his legend. Mission: Impossible – In Fallout (2018), he became the first actor to complete a Hello Jump (high altitude, low opening) on camera. As Wade Eastwood, the second unit director and stunt coordinator for Fallout once explained, “The audience knows when something is tricked.

And Cruises doesn’t just break physical restrictions – he’s shattering box office records. As Guinness points out, he also holds the titles of most consecutive $100 million growth films (actors) in 11 blockbusters between Jack Reacher (2012) and The Final Reckoning (2025). Glenday states: “He is still the actor who has the most consecutive $100 million movies on his resume and the most successful major action hero at the world wide box office.”

The final calculation, which opened globally in May, provided the franchise’s biggest opening weekend to date. That being said, this film was one expensive outing.

Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt on the mission: Impossible – the final calculation from Paramount Pictures and Skydance.
