Netflix has announced the official trailer for KPOP Demon Hunter. This is a chaotic blend of bubble gum pop, supernatural killing and animated attitudes. And it looks like a must-see for K-Pop fans. Please take a look at the above and get the following information:
From Sony Pictures Animation – The studio behind Spider-Man: From Spider-Verse and The Mitchells vs. The Machines – The film follows the global K-Pop Girl Group Rumi (voiced by Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zoey (Ji-Young Yoo). Every day, they sell out the stadium. At Night: Secret Devil Hunter slices through supernatural threats to protect the fans.
Their latest challenge? The rival boy band, which happens to be made up of demons, is dangerously good in both dance moves and dark magic. Ahn Hyo-Seop voices one of the boy band’s charming but less human members.
“We have a great voice cast, and the range of their performances gives the film that original tone,” co-director Chris Appelhans told Netflix site Tudum. “While Byung Hun Lee and Ahn Hyo-Seop bring about authentic K-Drama Emotion, Arden, May and Ji-Young combine the charisma of legitimate K-Pop Stars with the vulnerability of real young women juggling their unparalleled dual-life.”
Without the killer soundtrack it’s not a K-Pop project. This is not disappointing. The film is an original song performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung of Twice, along with a stacked lineup of music by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, Andrew Choi and others.
“We couldn’t be more excited about Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung’s two collaborations with Chaeyoung,” says co-director Maggie Kang. “It really justifies our films and songs in the K-Pop world. What we accomplished what we were trying to do is proof that we’re going to become a real K-Pop group.”
And the two stars agree: “As part of KPOP Demon Hunter, I found it very exciting to be able to connect with these brave characters through music. It felt special because it combined K-pop and animation.
KPOP Demon Hunters will be released on Netflix on June 20th.
