Jason Isaacs, Micah Monroe, Thosene McKenzie
Jason Isaac heads for Gothic Horror territory and joins Micah Monroe (Longlugs) and Thomasin Mackenzie (SoHo last night) in the upcoming thriller Victorian Psycho. Directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) and based on a novel of the same name by Virginia Feito, the project is preparing for production in August and is currently in the Cannes Market.
Set in the vast shadowy hall of Ensaw House, the story follows Winifred Notty (played by Monroe), the seemingly appropriate governor. Of course, things aren’t what they saw. Especially when staff strangely begin to disappear, and property owners doubt new employees who are increasingly uneasy. Isaacs portrays John Pounds, a mysterious master of real estate who suspects that the sophisticated tutor is hiding something much more ominous than an outdated curriculum.
Mackenzie joins the cast in the important role of adding another layer to what could be a stylish psychological slow burn. The script, adapted by Feito himself, is expected to remain true to the novel’s dark wit and creeping tension.
No stranger to a person of sinister authority Isaac was recently seen in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3. His past works include Stalin, Star Trek: Discovery, Black Hawk Down, and of course, his unforgettable turn as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.
Director Wigon has his third feature, following the Indie the Heart Machine in 2014 and the Psychological Thriller Reserve in 2022, and said about the casting:
The film is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlugs) under Traffic. Banner, Sebastian Rayboe of Anton and Wigon (Greenland: Transition). Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros and Feito are executive produced. Anton also funds international sales and engages in international sales along with US rights processed by Anton, UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance.
