WildBear Entertainment and Ludo Studio creatives lend their expertise to Sunny Coast Awowdown ShowdownMax initiative, which will begin submissions this month.

Announced in March, AshowdownMax invites pilots of serialized, repeatable, returnable content. A complete web series for online platforms. Features Length concept; scripted script and non-script series content with attractive commercial models is limited. Four projects will be awarded $10,000 in professional opinion, with the ultimate winner receiving more than $200,000 in production funds and support.

The project must be written and owned by the local Sunshine Coast, produced on the Sunshine Coast, and completed by October 1st.

Wildbear (Big Shark Energy, Rise of the Dictators) and Ludo (Bluey, Thou Shalt Not Steal) each provide guidance on scripts and script development, and work closely with finalists to show stories on screen.

Bettina Dalton, principal of Wildbear Entertainment, a former Nambourg High School student, said the Sunshine Coast thriving screening industry would bring her “so much joy.”

“We will lead unscripted developments with international markets in mind and help them to the stage where they can apply for development funding or move into production with AdhowdownMax,” she said.

Dan Monday

In a statement, Ludo Studio’s development team said they are passionate about working with Sunshine Coast filmmakers to boost their careers.

“As a team with strong connections to the Sunshine Coast, we are delighted and proud that the Sunshine Coast filmmaking community is part of this incredible opportunity through the Sunny Coast showdown,” they said.

“We work closely with showdown finalists to provide development guidance on scripted projects and help bring fresh, original stories to the screen.”

Adhowdownmax co-founder Dan Munday said the partnership between Ludo Studios and WildBear Entertainment is a major boost to the Sunshine Coast.

“This is a premium upgrade of four projects from two of Australia’s best production companies. I call it the ‘Best in Field’ punch-up,” he said.

“We’re going to have four really tweaked projects ready for the market and produce one of them.”

Louise Hayse of Sunshine Coast Screen Collective agreed, saying the event is already making a huge difference for local filmmakers.

“We’ve seen firsthand how products like showdowns can change careers and build confidence,” she said.

“It is to create a real pathway for Sunshine Coast practitioners.

AdhawdownMax is the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective Initiative supported by Bendigo Community Bank’s leading Bendigo Community Bank Tewantin-Noosa-Cooroy-Marcoola with additional support from Screen Queensland.

It will open on May 12th. For more information, please click here.
