Update: Nintendo has confirmed that the physical version of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition game comes with the original Nintendo Switch game and the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade pack all on the same card. While some third-party publishers may choose to include a download code, all Nintendo games will include the Switch 2 Edition version in your cart.
“The physical version of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition game includes the original Nintendo Switch games and their upgrade packs all on the same game card. Alternatively, some publishers can release the Nintendo Switch 2 edition game as download code for the physical package without the game card,” a Nintendo official said.
At the time of writing, the physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition game includes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Kingdom’s Tears, Metroid Prime 4, Kirby, The Forgotten Land, and Mario Party Jamboree + TV.
Original Story: There was a lot of confusion about the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game and whether or not to include the actual Switch 2 cart on the front of the cover in the box.
It was not clear whether this means both are included in the cart or the original cart with download codes for upgrades, but according to Nintendo customer support workers, the physical version of the Switch 2 Edition game does not include the Switch 2 Edition in the cart.
In response to customer questions, the representative replied, “You can confirm that the upgrade will be a download code.”
According to Nintendo’s own support, Switch 2 Enhanced Editions were a direct, false ad. After trying to nail them for an answer, they confirmed to one of our followers that they simply switched one card using the code for upgrades. So there’s no reason to buy these.

This includes Metroid Prime 4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
The main concern about this is clearly that for collectors, you are not getting the cart that is represented on the cover. They also increased prices for games like TOTK and BOTW, as well as new physical versions.
