Final trailer
Can you see the end for Ethan Hunt? Paramount has announced the final trailer for Mission: Impossible. This has released the eighth potential final production, the final calculation of the long-term Tom Cruise franchise. It has also been confirmed that the film will premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Check out the trailer above and see more details below.
Tom Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt and continues the entity storyline featured in Dead Recording – Part 1. The film’s impressive ensemble includes Haley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Vin Rams, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Henry Chernie, Pom Cumentteif, Angela Bassett and Holt McCullany. The new trailer also offers a glimpse into Ted Lasso star Hannah Wadindam and retired star Trammel Tillman.
Cannes Film Festival 2025
The film lined up at its Cannes premiere and will break out of the competition on May 14th. “Actor and producer Tom Cruise, his longtime collaborator, director and screenwriter Christopher Macquarie and cast will walk the stairs of the Palais des Festival,” she shared the festival in a press release.
This marks the third appearance of a cruise at the festival. His first was Ron Howard’s far and far away in 1992, and the second was with Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.
Big budget
The pressure is on track to ensure that the final calculations work very well at the box office. Speaking on the Town Podcast (as reported by World of Reel), entertainment journalist Matt Belloni shares that the film’s production budget is around US$400 million.
This is a massive price tag that posts the final calculations in the most expensive film ever made, assuming there is truth in this report. According to this Wikipedia list, it is the fourth most expensive to be precise. To make a clear profit, the film needs to approach the US$1 billion mark at the box office worldwide.
Mission: Impossible – Final calculations will begin at Australian cinemas on May 17th, and at US cinemas on May 23rd.
