Disney+ has officially announced the release date for Disney+’s ESPN, confirming that Sportshub will arrive in Australia and New Zealand on March 26, 2025. New additions are available to all Disney+ Premium and Standard subscribers, and will significantly expand the platform’s offering with live sports, studio shows and ESPN’s original programs.
Releases will open in time for major sporting events, with the opening days of the NBA Playoffs, NCAA March Madness and MLB in April being the highlights. Fans can also expect coverage of NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, UFC Fight Night and more.
Disney+ subscribers in Australia and New Zealand will find dedicated ESPN hubs for the platform. Get access to over 10,000 hours of sports content, including live streams on ESPN and ESPN2 channels, popular shows like SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, First Take, and on-demand replay. 30 ESPN documentary series 30.
In a statement, Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Walt Disney Company Australia, VP of New Zealand Senior and Mangeing Director, and director of ESPN Asia-Pacific, said:
“We look forward to expanding ESPN’s viewers further across major international sports and launching all the NBA playoff action as the league champions compete with it,” Watson-Wheeler said.
Australia and New Zealand will be the first English-speaking regions outside of North America to receive ESPN at Disney+ after their US debut in December 2024.
ESPN Hub will be participating in the Disney+ lineup, which includes titles from popular entertainment content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star Tile. Locally produced Australian originals such as The Artful Dodger, Shipwreck Hunters Australia and Clearing are part of the offering.
Australian tennis player and NBA fan Nick Kyrgios portrays a new campaign that will encourage ESPN’s arrival on Disney+, which is said to have a “fun edge.”
In addition to Disney+, ESPN is available through Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
