ESPN’s Oussie Disney Plus launch date confirmed

Update: Disney confirmed today that ESPN will be on sale on Disney Plus in both tiers on March 26th in Australia and New Zealand.

The offering will join soon-to-stream premier sporting events, including the NBA Playoffs, NCAA March Madness, MLB Opening Day, and NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and UFC Fight Nights.

In addition to the ESPN products available on Disney+, ESPN will be available at least in the near future via Foxtel, Kayo Sport, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.

Original Story: Disney has announced that ESPN Sports is coming to Disney Plus in Australia and New Zealand this year.

Australia marks the first English-speaking country outside North America to get ESPN on Disney Plus. The new ESPN hub brings over 10,000 hours of live sports through ESPN and ESPN2 channels. Use shows like SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, Take, Live Events and on-demand replays.

Trade: Get 12 Month Disney Plus at 10 Month Price

To name a few, ESPN has the rights to the NBA All-Star Weekend, the NBL Championship Series, the MLB Opening Day, the NBA Finals and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

All Disney Plus Premium and Standard subscribers have access to the channel’s ESPN lineup. There is no release date for the channel yet, but more information will be released in the coming months. Once Disney is available it looks exactly like this: “Disney+’s new ESPN hub brings over 10,000 hours of ESPN live sports action to the platform through ESPN and ESPN2 channels, additional on-demand drive events, on-demand replay and iconic original programming.”

ESPN was previously only available on Foxtel/Kayo, so this is clearly a big shakeup and could bring more people to Disney. It’s unclear if that will remain in Foxtel. At first you probably know how long it will last.

You can sign up for Disney Plus here. Currently, there are deals that allow you to win 12 months at a price of 10 when you sign up for an annual plan.
