This morning’s PlayStation announced its PlayStation Beta program. This appears to be an extension of the PS5/PS4 beta update that was rolled out for the last few years. These were never available in Australia, but the good news is that Australians can use the beta programme to register.
It will be interesting to see how this evolves over time and how widespread this has been in terms of testing new games and features. Previously, it was done for console updates before the tests went live (no change), but this appears to be used to actually playtest things early in the development cycle, an exciting outlook.
How to register for the PlayStation beta program
You can register here. You will need to sign up for a PlayStation Network account and answer some questions about your favorite game type, age, games and a few other small questions.
What is the PlayStation beta program?
PlayStation says this allows you to playtest PlayTest games on PS5 and PC test games in the concept stage.
It also aims to provide early access to the new PS5 console features, test the PlayStation app with new features, test new features on the PlayStation website, test them before release, and provide feedback before rolling out to a larger audience.
What happens after signing up for the PlayStation beta program?
PlayStation will send you an email outlining what to expect. See below.
We will email you an invitation for upcoming betas, functional testing and platform updates.
