Authorities have launched an investigation. “We don’t think foul plays are a factor in their deaths, but the exact cause of death has not been determined at this time,” the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office said as reported by deadline.

Authorities have not yet decided the exact circumstances surrounding the couple’s death. Lawmakers arrived at the couple’s home in the gated community Wednesday afternoon in response to a call to be private. The report suggests it is unclear whether they are conducting welfare checks or responding to another incident.
Before the pair was officially identified, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza addressed public concerns. The Guardian quoted him as saying, “I want to assure the community and the neighbours that no immediate danger is present to anyone.”
