Netflix gave Avatar: The Last Airbender Fan a real treat. A blue-pear reel filled with line flavours, stunt accidents and many on-set laughs. But the fun didn’t stop there. The cast also sat down to react to their own failures and cracked down as they relive the confusion.
Blooper Reel features everything about Ian Ousley (Sokka) who stumbled over his words. Sorry, I ruined it” – Dallas Liu (Zuko) missed stunts and hearing and “Reset, guys” offscreen. And of course, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Iroh) solidified himself as the show’s comedy MVP, offering a completely timing “now not a good time” after a prop malfunction.
Cast watches themselves (and roast)
Watching their own outtakes, the cast couldn’t contain their laughter. Especially when I realized that Netflix has added additional sound effects. “Did they add that sound?” one of them asked, unstoppable. Owry’s adorable recovery attempt moaned with his own over-the-top delivery, “It’s cute.”
The biggest laugh came when Lee’s current iconic blooper played again, proving that no one could keep a straight face even himself. “It was better than the previous one,” Gordon Cormier (Ang) admitted after seeing one of his own fumbles. The entire reaction video reminded me of the behind all the bending and epic battles.
On the other hand, Season 2 is total steam
Filming for Season 2 is already on track, with executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabal Raisani promising even bigger.
“We look forward to working with all the actors again and delving into the deeper and more complicated relationships that develop as the journey continues in Season 2,” they told Tudum. “We’ll show you real versions of the original iconic scenes and explore some of the stories that the animated didn’t.”
The duo also teased more time in the kingdom of Earth. “For Gunn, fans expect a better plan from Sokka, even more stunning bends from Katara, Uppa and Momo to be as fluffy as ever, and aang hopes to learn new bending shapes (or two) can.”
The wait times for season 2 continue, but at least fans have a blooper to remind you that even the most epic fantasy adventures have some hilarious stumbling along the way.
