Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming murder mystery series The Residence. This is Shondaland’s latest work. It is a production company founded by writer and producer Shonda Rhimes (Bridgerton, Gray’s Anatomy). From scandal writer Paul William Davis and starring Uzo Adva (Orange is Treated New Black), the show is a mix of chaotic and comedic inside the White House during the dinner of the most disastrous nation in history. Provides whodunit. Check out the trailer above to learn more about the series below.

White House Murder Mystery

This trailer introduces Cordelia Cupp, a keen and highly skilled investigator tasked with solving murders in the halls of one of the world’s most scrutinized buildings. As Chaos unfolds, Cup is described as “the best detective in the world,” but navigates a constantly growing list of suspects, political plots and personal revenge. The show balances tension and absurdly, as it gives a glimpse into food fights, heated debates and highlights the dysfunctional nature of people within the walls of the White House.

With 132 rooms, 157 suspects and one corpse, this residence plays with the ratio of classic murder mystery, bringing a satirical look to the behind-the-scenes power dynamics of America’s most famous residence. It is offered. Victims? White House chief asser AB Wynter is played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad). As social secretary Lily Schumacher (Molly Griggs) ominously states in the trailer, “Many people in this house had problems with AB.”

Star-studded cast

Leading the series, three-time Emmy winner Uzo Adva is known for Orange being the new black man. Joining her is Randall Park (boat to fresh off boat) as FBI special agent Edwin Park. Other cast members include the astonishing cameos of Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Susan Kelech Watson, Jane Curtin and Australian singer Kylie Minogue.

Speaking to Netflix site Tudum, Aduba explains that her character fits Shondaland’s strong-willed heroine type. Cordelia’s passion for birdwatching, a rare feature for detectives, also becomes her research style. “She taught me a lot about how she investigates the case because she has to pay attention to all the details while birdwatching. It’s all relevant,” Adva explained. Masu.

Meanwhile, Jason Lee teases his role as the president’s rebellious younger brother, Trip Morgan. “Trip is open and doesn’t bother him. He wants to cause trouble. He fantasizes himself as a rebel against the system. And his brother is, of course, the system.”

A blend of mystery, comedy and farce

Davis’ background in the scandal makes him a stranger to the White House plot, but he cites a different source of residence inspiration: the classic 1963 charade was written by Audrey Hepburn and Cary Starring Grant. “Housing is honestly a lot. It’s funny, suspenseful, clever, completely biased in places, others are really romantic,” Davis says. “As a murder mystery, what I really think makes it fresh and unique is the Cordelia Cup. She’s just special.”

Above all, he hopes the audience enjoys the series. Often, with every cap: “Make it fun.” I want people to have fun. I want them to laugh and get engaged in order to solve this mystery. ”

When is the Residence Premier?

All eight episodes of the Residence will land on Netflix on March 20th.
