Prime Video has confirmed that the Lord of the Rings: Power of Power rings are back in the third season. Filming will begin this fall and will be relocated to a new home at Shepperton Studios in the UK.
The latest season of the high-budget fantasy series, based on JRR Tolkien’s vast lore, watch the revival of directors Charlotte Brändström and Sanaa Hamri along with rookie Stefan Schwartz. Each manager will handle multiple episodes for next season.

A time jump was planned
Prime Video has revealed that Season 3 will be set a few years after the events of Season 3, and will jump into a pivotal time in Chinese history. “Jumping over the events of Season 2 years ago, Season 3 will take place at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron. The Dark Lord creates one ring that gives him the edge he needs to win the war. Because they’re about to do so, the streaming giant shared it on social media.

With One Ring’s creation at the forefront, fans may eventually witness the full power of Sauron’s ambitions as they wage war with the elves and spread their shadows over the land.
Director’s Steering Season 3
Having directed several episodes over the first two seasons, Brändström steps up as an executive producer, continuing her supervisory duties. Her past works include The Witcher, The Outsider, and The High Castle Man. Hamri, who joined the season 2 series, has an extensive directorial background that spans his fellow Prime Video fantasy series The Wheel of Time and Empire. After making the ring for his power debut, Schwartz directed episodes of The Boys, Luther and the Walking Dead.
Behind the scenes, showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay will return with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazel and Brenstrom.

The work ongoing in the third season is no surprise. The series reportedly has reached over 170 million viewers worldwide, making it one of Prime Video’s most powerful performers. Season 1 was the platform’s biggest television premiere to date, but Season 2 has been declared the most watched return season by total time.
