Screen Australia and The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand have announced that the thrilling ocean adventure Shipwreck: Hunters Australia will continue for a second season on Disney+.


The next six-part installment of the hugely popular Australian original documentary series discovers new stories of incredible survival and devastating tragedy along Western Australia’s rugged and beautiful Treasure Coast It follows a team of fearless ocean adventurers as they dive deep to discover the world.


Season 2 sees the reunion of expert divers and underwater filmmakers – Captain Ash Sutton, Andre Lellekula, Noush Freedman, Johnny Debnam and Ryan Chatfield – supported by expert marine archaeologists from the Western Australian Museum.


This adrenaline-pumping expedition takes viewers deep into the ocean to investigate ocean mysteries, experience unique and amazing marine wildlife, and explore Western Australia, a state thought to be home to more than 1,600 shipwrecks. Explore the coastline of Season 1 included amazing historical maritime discoveries in the sunken 111-year-old Finnish-owned sailing ship Glenbank and Broome, a 1942 flying boat sunk during World War II .


Filming has already begun and is expected to take place in multiple locations by the end of the year.


Shipwreck Hunters Australia Season 2 is a co-production for Disney+ by VAM Media, Terra Australis Productions and Barking Mad Productions, with major production investment from Screen Australia, Screenwest, Lotterywest, Regional Screen Fund of Western Australia and Supported by the Tourism Bureau. Western Australia.


The series is produced by VAM Media’s Brendan Hutchens (Shipwreck Hunters, Drown to Water, The Walking Man) and series producer Russell Vines (Ningaloo: Australia’s Other Side). The Great Reef, The Waler: Australia’s Great Warhorse, Australia’s Sleep Revolution) will direct and produce. (with Dr. Michael Mosley), executive producer Steve Bibb (Shipwreck Hunters Australia, Inside the Sydney Opera House, Matildas: The World Beneath Our Feet).
