There is still confusion about whether the PS5 slim faceplate will fit the PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro was announced a few weeks ago and has a nearly identical design to the PS5 Slim, with both consoles using the same external disk drive.

This makes me wonder if both consoles will use the same faceplate, especially considering that the disk drive probably comes with a faceplate (one of four parts) that will work with both consoles. People started thinking, but now the point is unclear.

In its first public post, PlayStation said the PS5 Pro will be the same width as the PS5 Slim and the same height as the original PS5, and will also allow players to swap out the console’s cover and disk drive when it launches. said.

A PlayStation customer service representative told the customer, “No, the PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim do not share the same plate in all four areas. The PS5 Pro has a slightly different shape, so the plates are not interchangeable. Specifically. The top and bottom plates are different between the two models.” It’s obvious that online customer service agents may have incorrect information or act on assumptions.

Similarly, Amazon Japan’s product listing features a seemingly unofficial compatibility chart stating that while both the disc drive and vertical stand are compatible, the PS5 Slim’s faceplate is not compatible with the PS5 Pro. I was there.

If that’s not proof enough, EB Games’ listing pretty clearly states that it’s only compatible with the PS5 Slim and not the PS5 Pro.

“Cover is for PS5 (Slim) Digital & Disc Console. Not compatible with PlayStation 5 Pro.”

What makes this so confusing is the fact that the new PS5 Chroma collection comes in three faceplate designs (indigo, teal, and pearl) and launches on the same day as the PS5 Pro (November 7th) . It’s strange that it’s not compatible.

Interestingly, these are all listed on Amazon simply as “PlayStation Console Covers” while the previously released ones were simply marked as Slim.

A few users have also created a mockup of a PS5 Slim faceplate layered on top of a PS5 Pro, but it looks exactly the same, so that’s all we understand and it’s unclear if they’re compatible or not. .

According to Reddit user Sony-boy, he stacked the plates on top of each other and the results seemed to fit together nicely. pic.twitter.com/lZZOCV7EDu

We’ve reached out to PlayStation to see if they’re willing to reveal whether the PS5 Slim’s faceplate will be compatible with the PS5 Pro. Given that Sony hasn’t announced compatibility specifically for the PS5 Pro, we’re hopeful that it will become incompatible eventually.
