Following the teaser trailer released in December, Prime Video has released the official trailer for the upcoming series Young Sherlock. Watch the trailer above and read more about the Guy Ritchie-produced series.
The first incident that develops into something bigger
Young Sherlock rewinds the legend to a point before it took hold. The series follows the charismatic, youthful and rebellious Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin, The Ungentlemanly War Department) as he becomes embroiled in a murder investigation that threatens his freedom, and his “first case” turns into the kind of conspiracy that cannot be neatly contained. From there, the story expands beyond the initial mystery into a globe-trotting escalation, with the series building towards an explosive showdown that will change the course of Sherlock’s life forever.
The big hook is the early appearance of James Moriarty (Domhnall Finn, “The Wheel of Time”), and Sherlock’s first encounter with him draws the case into deeper, more dangerous territory. As the trailer makes clear, this is not the still-cool Baker Street version of the detective, but a younger, more free-spirited person who is still testing his instincts and limits.
cast and creative team
In addition to Tiffin, previously announced cast members include Zain Tseng as Princess Gurung Shoang, Joseph Fiennes as Cyrus Holmes, Natasha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Oscar-winning actress Colin Firth as Bucephalus Hodge.
Ritchie directed and executive produced the first two episodes, and it’s easy to see his style reflected in this one. He’s certainly in his wheelhouse. After all, he directed two Sherlock movies starring Robert Downey Jr. A third game in the series has been the subject of many years of “to-or-break” debate, but despite new rumors that it will be restarted, nothing concrete has yet been made.
The series was created for television and is executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill (Deep State, Rogue), with executive producers Dana Rivera Gilbert, Mark Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton and Colin Wilson, and co-executive producers Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson. The physical production of Young Sherlock was led by Motive Pictures.
Prime video release date
All eight episodes of Young Sherlock will premiere on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.
