Without 60 Minutes, there would be no Sunday nights on CBS. The series has been running longer than most television viewers have been alive and still receives very high ratings compared to the rest of CBS’ schedule. Is there a chance that 60 Minutes will be canceled or is it guaranteed to be renewed for season 58? Stay tuned.
The 60 Minutes television show, a news magazine series, was created in 1968 by Don Hewitt and Bill Leonard. The network’s longest-running series in prime time features investigative reports, interviews, human relations segments and profiles of newsmakers. Typically, three full-length news stories are broadcast in each episode. CBS News correspondents and contributors include Leslie Stahl, Scott Perry, Bill Whitaker, Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, Jon Wertheim, Cecilia Vega and Norah O’Donnell.
Ratings are usually the best indicator of a show’s likelihood of remaining on the air. The higher the rating, the more likely you are to survive. This chart will be updated as new rating data becomes available.

For comparison: Season 56 of CBS’ 60 Minutes averaged a 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.52 million viewers.
Note: These are final domestic ratings including all live + same-day viewing and DVR playback (until 3am). These numbers do not include additional delays or streaming viewing, but they are a very good indicator of a show’s performance, especially when compared to other shows on the same channel. Although other financial factors may play a role in a show’s fate, generally high-rated series are renewed and low-rated series are canceled.
What do you think? Do you like CBS’s 60 Minutes TV series? Should it be canceled or renewed for a 58th season?
